Nestled in the heart of Antalya’s Muratpaşa district, the Atatürk's House Museum (Atatürk Evi ve Müzesi) stands as a poignant tribute to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Turkish Republic. Atatürk first visited Antalya on March 6, 1930, and stayed in a two-story stone villa allocated for his use. The citizens of Antalya, eager to honor their esteemed guest, cleaned and furnished the building in a short time and presented it to him as a gift. He returned for another official visit in February 1935. The original building, however, was demolished in 1982 due to a street-widening project. With the financial support of a local electricity distribution company, the house was rebuilt at the same location in the exact same proportions and style but pushed back from its original spot to not interfere with street traffic. In 1986, the museum opened to the public.
